Monday is the deadline for Floridians to register to vote in the Nov. 3 general election, with several major statewide and congressional races on the ballot.
The voter registration deadline is Oct. 5, 29 days before Election Day. A voter registration agency must receive new registration applications or they must be postmarked by Monday to be eligible for the election.
Florida voters will decide several major races this fall, including contests for governor and U.S. Senate. Voters will also consider Amendment 3, which would significantly increase the homestead property tax exemption for non-school taxes.
Glades County voters will also help decide a competitive race for Florida’s redrawn 9th Congressional District.
As of Monday, Glades County had 6,853 active registered voters, according to the county Supervisor of Elections. Republicans make up the largest group, with 4,113 registered voters. There are 1,420 registered Democrats and 1,320 voters registered with another party or no party affiliation.
The general election follows relatively low turnout in the August primary. About 35% of Glades County voters cast a ballot in that election, and only about 13% voted early.
Voters will have another chance to cast their ballots early before the November election.
Early voting in Glades County begins Saturday, Oct. 24, and continues through Saturday, Oct. 31. Voting will be available each day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Glades County Supervisor of Elections office, 998 U.S. Highway 27 South in Moore Haven.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
